Scion's discussion with the traveling forgnome Gneros Forgot

Trail markings found in the Land of Ilix, each symbol is usually found separately and let the traveler know where they are and if they are walking on unsafe marsh mangroves, direction to the nearest druids if one need healing and the rate of danger based on alligators, snakes and other beasts that would be typically found lurking in the surrounding area near the bark marks.

This discussion is going to presented here in the spoken language Fan'glo also known as forgnomish and the more common Gan'lo, also known as gnomish, with a English translation in the end for your convenience.

Scion: Hello gnome I am Scion, a ranger from a local tribe
Gneros: Hello Scion I am Gneros Forgot, and I am on my way to visit my cousins the forgnomes of the deep swamp forests.
Scion: You must have lost your way often been given Forgot as your second of names
Gneros: Not at all my parents forgot what they were planning to call me for my adulthood day since I was away training so much, so that's how I got my name.
Scion: That is rather funny.
Gneros: Gnomes are funny, and you are a funny tribal man.
Scion: So Gneros other than vising your cousins what bring you to the Land of Ilix?
Gneros: I am in part here to get away from elves, pesky elves they keep picking my lady Forulina's flowers, evil elves they are.
Scion: Hiding from only evil elves?
Gneros: Noooo, you also got the trolls, they don't know the difference between a rock and a rose and sometimes eat both before they notice which they picked up. Which sometimes is an advantage if they try to toss rose bushes instead of rocks at you.
Scion: That is rather funny, rock eating trolls
Gneros: Beats me why anyone would want to eat rocks, or roses, both taste pretty horrible to me. Much better being a forgnome, we are the best never harming plants at most we collect from plant without killing it.
Scion: So do gnomes have barbaric tribes too?
Gneros: Some say forgnomes are barbaric, climbing in trees, putting up efficient traps or just tickle or cause itch in those that pass by using our own clan recipes for itching powders. Itching powders does not work on trolls thought, they are already so itchy they don't even notice the difference. My cousin Jebbler Fot was once stepped on by a troll and it took us 14 days to get him out of the mud... Nooo not the ground I am talking about from between the trolls toes, that big ugly troll was sleeping and didn't even notice me and my other 31 clan members digging there for cuz Jebbler.
Scion: Now for the formalities, you need to pay the Land of Ilix fee of passage.
Gneros: Yes, yes, take these Arabshi gold coins and Lanifoelin Amethysts it should cover the pass fee. yes?
Scion: OK Gneros, you can pass onward to visit your clan.

The Northwestern Ganathor Swamp Mangroves and The Land of Ilix

In center The Ganathor Swamp with the Ismake River exiting the swamp towards the east,
The greater Sylaxwi Forest to the east, with the Caliphate in the northeast,
the Juanish Drow Mountains in the South, Rielsys Forest in the southwest corner,
Wemic Plains and their peninsula exiting the map in the north,

During one of my many travels into the Salt Mangroves in the Northwestern River areas of the Ganathor Swamp, I encountered Scion of the Greendragons Clan, a young and stout human male, proud and with all the markings and feathers a ranger warden of the swamps would wear.

From what I were able to figure out, both by my talks with Scion and the local Swamp Druids, The Greendragons Clan is the largest and most prosperous of the barbaric tribes within a few thousand square mile Mangrove swamp area that Scion referred to as The Land of Ilix. Compared to the lands of the swamp to the west or east of this land, The Land of Ilix is rich and seems to not be suffering the plundering of rampant Bullywug tribes or the pesky black dragons attacks thats keep both the deep and border swamp areas almost unbearable for those that dare to travel or live in the swamp lands of Ganathor.

It always is fascinated with how the system of currency and barter works in these settlements of the swamp, they have no interest in gold or silver but find pearls, copper, steel and bronze to be of high value, but for some odd reason when paying the fee for safe passage in the land of Ilex they do indeed prefer to be paid in valuables like gold, silver, gem or pearls. Also any animal caught require a fee paid to the Greendragons Clan, all kept in order and monitored by the druids, rangers and the barbaric tribesmen. As long as you remember these basic rules, respect the tribesmen and pay for safe passage you might actually enjoy the swamps as a place of comfort far away from the Cities of the Elves or even the chalk white citadels of the not so distant settlement Rempah and other outposts of the Caliphate to the west.

For those that do want to reach The Land of Ilix I suggest traveling to the Caliphate controlled outpost Rempah and sail from there using The Ismake River into the Northwestern Ganathor Mangroves, The Ismake River goes deep into the swamp and passes the far outpost provinces of the Great Caliphate, were you could find several Salt Druid trading-posts and settlements that does regular traveling in for collecting the rich salts of the swamp. If you are lucky like me you might even have someone like my Forgnomish assistant, Gneros Forgot that has relatives in The Land of Ilix.
